Taxidermy Workshops

We are pleased to announce that we will be taking a step back to the golden age of Victorian taxidermy in conjunction with A Curious Invitation and A Field Guide. This series of Taxidermy classes will be held in the truly unique Victorian setting of Charles Dickens’s London townhouse. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills of an art that has been around for centuries and which rose to the heights of popularity in the Victorian period. Taxidermy is once again making a place for itself in the homes of thousands of enthusiasts and all it takes to learn to stuff your own animals is a little basic knowledge and a creative imagination.

If you’ve ever fancied enlivening your mantelpiece with dancing, singing, pipe-smoking or motorbike-riding mice, setting butterflies, or even tackling a mole or a rat then these workshops are for you. We expect tickets to sell fast so advance booking is highly recommended.

These classes are intended for beginners and no former taxidermy experience is required. All tools and materials will be supplied.

Guidance notes

  • All animals are ethically sourced and were not killed specifically for this class.
  • NO dangerous chemicals will be used and all animals are disease free.
  • Please be advised that this class is not for the faint hearted. There will be minimal blood and gore, but taxidermy is not for everyone.
