Festivals - Charles Dickens Museum

 

Rochester Dickens Festival
2nd, 3rd and 4th June

We will be returning to this annual festival of all things Dickens in the beautiful grounds of Rochester Castle. On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th June we will be offering activities for families and children of all ages. On Friday 2nd join us to learn the secrets inside The Old Curiosity Shop and have a go at making your own – in miniature! On Saturday 3rd we will be celebrating the magazine, ‘Master Humphrey’s Clock’ which first published The Old Curiosity Shop with a chance to make your own Victorian clock – perfect for our younger visitors! On Sunday 4th we will be encouraging aspiring writers with a notebook making workshop, an opportunity to learn about traditional bookbinding and make a writer’s notebook of your own; suitable for all ages.

We will be located near Rochester Castle grounds between 11am and 4pm each day. All activities are free and we will be accepting donations for the Museum.

London Open Garden Squares Weekend

The BMA Mind Garden
Saturday 18th June

British Medical Association Headquarters, Tavistock Square

The garden within the BMA’S headquarters was once the home of Charles Dickens. We will be on hand throughout the day to speak to guests about Dickens’s life while living in Tavistock House, and the garden which he wrote about in his books.

Cally Festival
Sunday 19th June

Caledonian Road, London

On Sunday 19th June we will be joining in the fun at Cally festival; a family friendly street party on Caledonian Road and celebration of our local community. We will be offering fun, free craft activities for all the family and an opportunity to meet our volunteers and learn more about Dickens’s home in Bloomsbury.

Cally Festival is free of charge. We will be located on Huntingdon Street (just off Caledonian Road near the bridge) between 12 and 6pm. All activities are free and we will be accepting donations to the museum.

Queen Square Fair
Saturday 2nd July, 12-5pm

Queen Square, Bloomsbury

Join us at this free annual community fair in Queen Square, in association with The Mary Ward Centre, St George’s Church and a host of other local organisations. Just like a good old-fashioned village fete in the middle of leafy Bloomsbury, we will be celebrating our local community this year with music, stalls and entertainment. Join us for fun crafting activities and to learn more about Dickens and his home, suitable for all ages.

All activities are free and we will be accepting donations to the Museum.

Children's Historic London Summer Fete
Saturday 6th August, 11am-4pm

Leighton House Museum

Come and enjoy the fun at The Annual Benjamin Franklin House Children’s Summer Fete in the beautiful gardens at Leighton House. We will be joining museums including Dr Johnson’s House, The Geffrye Museum, The Ragged School Museum and many others and offering fun, free craft activities for all the family and an opportunity to meet our volunteers and learn more about Dickens’s home in Bloomsbury.

Tickets to the Children’s Summer Fete are free of charge but advance booking is recommended. We will be located in Leighton House grounds between 11am and 4pm. All activities are free and we will be accepting donations to the museum.
