"The Rake's Progress" Engravings
Few of the paintings Dickens collected were acquired by him before 1840, so it is reasonable to assume he decorated his walls with prints at Doughty Street. In later life he prized his collection of first edition Hogarth prints, and he alluded to Hogarth prints while living here. The engravings you see are first edition copies of Hogarth's "The Rake's Progress" (1735), an eight-part series of engravings.
