The Charles Dickens Museum - Virtual Tour
The Etagere
The Etagere
This item of furniture was used in Dickens's library at Gad's Hill Place; however, it is of 1830's design. Dickens seems not to have bought second-hand furniture after leaving Doughty Street. It may be assumed, therefore, to have been in his possession here. These were used for a variety of purposes, including the keeping and displaying of various objects, ornaments, curiousities, books, etc.
