Subscription Book
It was during amateur theatricals at Knebworth in 1850 that the idea of The Guild of Literature and Art originated with Charles Dickens and Lord Lytton. Proceeds from drama productions were devoted to a fund for the benefit of authors and artists no longer able to work.
