Celebrate Bastille Week with a costumed reading of A Tale of Two Cities...
Dominic Gerrard returns to the Dickens Museum to perform one of Dickens's most famous and popular novels. Set during the violent upheavals of the French Revolution this performance is based on Dickens's own adaptation of his novel which he renamed The Bastille Prisoner.
Despite completing his text Dickens never actually performed it. His prompt copy survives however and is stored in the Dickens Museum archives. This performance is a rare chance to hear this copy performed, with extra chapters from the full novel completing this epic and powerful story.
Dominic's performance of A Christmas Carol has been described as "an exceptionally effective and powerful interpretation of the Christmas story" (The Stage ****) and "a worthy rival to Simon Callow's one man Carol" (Independent on Sunday).
