Dickens After Dark: A Halloween Special

“… he felt as though the light were a reproach, and shrunk involuntarily from the day as if he were some foul and hideous thing.”

Nicholas Nickleby Charles Dickens

On All Hallow’s Eve, the only night of the year dedicated to telling stories of the dearly departed and reading the fortunes of friends, you can experience Dickens’s beautiful townhouse as if the author himself had just stepped out the door.

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the atmospheric rooms and experience just what it was like to be in a Victorian home after dark. You can  delve into the unseen mysteries of the future with the help of our housemaid who will read the cards and tell you your fortune. Should you want to be dazzled by parlour tricks of another kind, look for the magician who will amaze you with close up and sleight of hand magic. We will have a candlelit bar open throughout the evening to help ward off the chills of this dark and mysterious night.
