Virtual Talk: Dickens in the Eye of the Beholder
£8 per person/ device Duration: Approx. 60 minutes |
Dickens in the Eye of the Beholder: Photographic Portraits and the Cultivation of Celebrity Join Dr Leon Litvack, guest curator for the first of our talks on Technicolour Dickens. In this online event Leon will discuss Victorian photographic technology, and how Dickens made use of it to enhance his celebrity image. He will offer an overview of the various photographers who captured images of the author across his career, together with an assessment of how we might “read” the various poses Dickens adopted. Leon will also explain how his research informed the colourisation of the images that feature in the ‘Technicolour Dickens’ exhibition, which he co-curated.
This is a live event and you can ask questions throughout via the Q&A bar and they will be picked up in the Q&A session at the end. Zoom is required to take part in this talk and discussion. A link to the Zoom session will be emailed to registrants the day before the session. Book now or for further enquiries please contact events@dickensmuseum.com #TechnicolourDickens |
