"Founder of the Feast" A Christmas Carol Bowl
Charles Dickens completed A Christmas Carol in six weeks. In 1843 he wrote to a friend explaining how on completing it he ‘wept and laughed and wept again, and excited himself in a most extraordinary manner’ over it. It went on sale just before Christmas. A short, smaller physically and handsomely bound with a salmon brown cover, gilded design, coloured endpapers, colour-printed title page, 8 illustrations by John Leech - 4 hand tinted etchings and 4 monochrome wood engravings.
This bone china bowl features a famous description of Ebenezer Scrooge by Bob Cratchit, underappreciated clerk of Scrooge, as seen in A Christmas Carol.
The mugs are created especially for the Museum as a bespoke product by James Dean Pottery in the UK.
