Dickens's Dream

Dickens's Dream, also known as 'A Souvenir of Dickens' is an oil painting by Victorian artist, etcher and illustrator, Robert William Buss (1804-1875).

The painting features Dickens in his Gad’s Hill Place study, conjuring up his characters whilst he sleeps.  There is a link which includes a key to all of the characters in Dickens’s Dream.

Sadly, Buss died before completing the painting, yet its unfinished nature and visible sketching adds to its charm.
