Family Culture Bugs
Do you like museums? Are you always looking for new family days out? We’d love for you to become one of our very own family culture bugs!
We’re looking for London-based families to help shape the future of the museum’s family friendly offer. After signing up to the Kids in Museums manifesto, we’re keen to improve our services for families and the way in which our young visitors can interact with our site and collection.
Thanks to a family grant from the Museum of London’s Development Fund, we’re looking to recruit a number of families to provide some free, fun cultural activities whilst also gathering some crucial feedback on our museum. Over the course of four separate events held over four separate months, participating families will explore our museum and collection, visit another family-friendly museum, and help us to think of creative strategies to make the Charles Dickens Museum a must-visit venue for families.
Light refreshments will be provided for each event and we strongly encourage all mini culture bugs to attend with their adult explorers! The museum will also expense travel costs to the museum (up to £10) upon providing a valid ticket.
If you’d like to hear more and get a free, interactive tour of the site, come along to our Family Culture Bugs launch event on Sunday 24th September. We are running two sessions, one between 10.00-11.45am and the other at 1.00 - 2.45pm. The event includes a 1-hour family-friendly guided tour of the site followed by a brief refreshment and Q&A session with arts and crafts activities for the kids. Tickets must be booked in advance. Limited spaces available.
Families of all shapes and sizes are welcome.
The activities will be aimed at Children aged 5-11 years, but younger and older siblings are welcome to join us to allow families to participate.
No prior knowledge of Dickens and the Museum is required.
