Join our curator as they highlight aspects of his colourful life. The content of this tour changes as individual curators may focus on different areas of interest. For this reason we welcome back repeat visitors interested in learning more.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf the various London homes Charles Dickens occupied during his literary career, only one house remains today: 48 Doughty Street.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis was the author's first house, and Dickens lived here with his family for nearly three years, years that changed his life profoundly. During this time, he finished \u003cem\u003eThe Pickwick Papers\u003c\/em\u003e, wrote \u003cem\u003eOliver Twist\u003c\/em\u003e, and \u003cem\u003eNicholas Nickleby\u003c\/em\u003e, started work on \u003cem\u003eBarnaby Rudge \u003c\/em\u003eand continued his work as an investigative journalist and social reform campaigner.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStill a relatively unknown writer when he moved here in early 1837, by the time he moved with his growing family, to a larger home, his works had made the name Charles Dickens famous across the western world.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou will join a small group of not more than 16 people for a guided tour of this literary home.
