Christmas at the Charles Dickens Museum
Each year, the Museum provides a unique and enchanting glimpse into how the festive season was celebrated by the great Victorian author, with the historic interiors transformed into a true embodiment of Christmas Past. This year we are defiant it will be no different with more festivity than ever before. From Thursday 3rd December, come and enjoy the unique and enchanting atmosphere of 48 Doughty Street at Christmastime!
Follow in Dickens’s footsteps as you savour the sights, sounds and smells of the rooms where he lived and worked - with holly and ivy decking the halls, beautiful Victorian decorations and a whole host of other festive surprises to discover.
Throughout the house, treasures from the collection will be displayed which affirm Dickens’s love of the season, such as a letter from his first Christmas spent in America, where he thanks an admirer for the gift of a piece of a English mistletoe.
Christmas at the Museum has become an annual festive highlight for many visitors to London and locals alike. After all, what better place to experience the rich traditions of a Dickensian Christmas than in the home of the author of A Christmas Carol?
