The Lost Portrait Leather Keyring

£3.50

This leather keyring features an image of The Lost Portrait by Margaret Gillies.

Margaret Gillies painted this extraordinary portrait of Charles Dickens in 1843, while he was writing A Christmas Carol.

The watercolour and gouache on ivory miniature was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1844, but by the 1880s Gillies had lost sight of it. In 2017 the original miniature was discovered in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
