Charles Dickens wrote five Christmas books (A Christmas Carol, The Chimes, The Cricket on the Hearth, The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man).
From 1850 to 1867 he made it a tradition to release a special Christmas number of his weekly journal (first Household Words, and later All the Year Round). These special editions were not always about Christmas, but rather were written for the season; well-suited to be read aloud and enjoyed with the family.
This magnet features an illustration from The Chimes by Daniel Maclise (1806-1870) called The Tower of the Chimes (1844).
