Fire Poker

This fire poker belonged to Dickens and was used at his last home, Gad’s Hill Place. It was kept in the dining room there. Many Victorians were reluctant to change from open fire places that could have been tended to by pokers, like this one, to cleaner technologies such as closed stoves.
