Dickens's global reach

Dickens has always had global appeal and his works are known world-wide. Translations quickly appeared during his lifetime and, after his death, his works spread further. Yet, it is not only Dickens’s work that has travelled, but also his name, image and reputation. From 1992 to 2003 you may even have carried his image around in your pocket as his photograph appeared on the British £10 note.
