Museum Admission

Tickets cover entry to the historic house and special exhibition. We also have a tearoom and gift shop for visitors to enjoy. Admission is in fifteen minute intervals for the safety and security of all. Visitors may encounter a short wait if the historic house is at capacity.

Occasionally it is necessary to close space(s) to the public during opening hours. Planned closures are listed here.


	Adult (17+) - £14.00 Child (6 - 16) - £8.00 Child (under 6) - Free Concession (eligibility below) - £12.00 Student (show valid card at ticket desk). Universal, Working Tax, or Pension Credit also Income Support, PIP and JSA recipients. (show proof of your benefit or state pension at ticket desk). Blue lights card holder (show valid card at ticket desk). Disability (no proof required). Carers enter for free when visiting with a ticket holder. Charles Dickens Museum Members - Free entry Art Pass - Free entry ICOM / Museum Association - Free entry No advance booking. Simply present a valid card at the ticket desk upon arrival.

	OPENING HOURS Regular opening hours Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Amended opening hours Tuesdays 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 December 2026 open 10am to 6pm. Wednesday to Sunday 2-23 December 2026 extended opening until 6pm. Thursday 24 December 2026 we are open for a special Christmas Eve event. Friday 25 December and Saturday 26 December closed. Monday 28 December 2026 open 10am to 5pm. Friday 1 January 2027 closed. Monday 29 March 2027 open 10am to 5pm. Last entry Last entry is one hour before closing time.

Please note, suitcases and large bags are not permitted in the museum. Only small handbags or backpacks are allowed into the historic house, to be worn on the front or carried by hand.
