Beautiful Books Jigsaw 1000 Piece

£25.00

A Christmas Carol (1843), The Chimes (1844), The Cricket on the Hearth (1845), Battle of Life (1846) and The Haunted Man (1848).

These five books, written by Dickens in the 1840s, transformed Christmas publishing and helped cement his association with the season. They were compact, cloth bound books, blind stamped and blocked in gold with gilt edges. They were beautifully illustrated by artists including Daniel Maclise, John Leech, and Clarkson Stanfield. The look of the book was extremely important to Dickens: before starting The Battle of Life in 1846, he wrote that he had ‘already begun to look the little Christmas volume in its small red face.’

1000 piece jigsaw puzzle featuring images of some of most beautiful editions of Dickens's books.
