A photo of Charles Dickens's dining room, decorated for the festive season. The walls are light blue, and golden curtains hang around the window. A portrait of young Dickens in a golden frame hangs above the fire place. In the foreground, the dining table is set with fine china, candles, and a Christmas turkey. Holly garlands are hung throughout the room.

The warming scent of mulled wine wafting through the air. The glorious sight of holly garlands twisting up the staircase and tied with red ribbons, is there any better place to be on Christmas Eve than in the historic London home of Charles Dickens?

Soak up the festive spirit this Christmas Eve as you explore the very home in which Charles Dickens lived and wrote. Traditionally decorated in an authentic Victorian style, the Charles Dickens Museum evokes the nostalgia of a Dickensian Christmas. Every guest receives a free mince pie and mulled wine or soft drink alternative. For an extra special treat, we’ll be playing adaptations of A Christmas Carol, including the family favourite The Muppet Christmas Carol, throughout the day in ‘The Smallest Theatre in the World.’

As a special promotion, every visitor who books a Christmas Eve ticket in advance will be automatically entered into a Festive Prize Competition with the chance to win a Dickensian Christmas bumper:

  • A facsimile first edition of A Christmas Carol.
  • A copy of Dickens & Christmas, written by the author and 3x great granddaughter of Charles Dickens, Lucinda Hawksley.
  • A Bah Humbug! Christmas mug, to enjoy a brew while you read your new books.

The winner will be drawn at random at 9.00am on Christmas Eve morning, and the prize will be presented to the winner when they arrive at the museum.
