Snuff Box

Dickens liked to surround himself with fellow writers and actors. Dickens and dramatist Douglas Jerrold were members of ‘The Mulberries’ — a Shakespeare appreciation club. Dickens loved Shakespeare’s plays, they formed some of his earliest theatre memories. The titles of both Dickens’s journals, Household Words and All the Year Round, are quotes from Shakespeare's plays. He also performed The Merry Wives of Windsor with his amateur theatre troupe.
