Collaborators?

As Wilkie’s boss, Charles often decided to ‘tone down’ Wilkie's writing to ensure they wouldn’t offend middle-class readers. In this letter he insists on the ‘necessity of cancelling’ a passage of Wilkie’s submission for Message from the Sea, his submission for the 1860 Christmas number of All the Year Round. Altogether Wilkie contributed more than 50 stories and articles to Charles’s journals.
